France's national team complained about shabby medals at the 2024 Olympics

Clément Secchi and Yohann Ndoye Brouard, who won bronze in the integrated swimming relay at the 2024 Olympic Games, posted photos of their shabby Olympic medals on social media. This was reported by L'Équipe on December 29.
Brouard posted a photo of the blackened medal on the X network (formerly Twitter) and signed it: "Paris 1924". In turn, his relay teammate Clément Secchi accompanied his posting of a photo of the peeling medal on Instagram (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist in Russia, banned) with the caption "Crocodile skin."
The newspaper reported that back in August, the quality of some of the medals drew criticism from American Naiji Houston, who placed third in the street skateboarding competition.
"These medals look great when they're brand new <...> but they're clearly not as good quality as you think," he said.
Earlier, on August 12, State Duma deputy Dmitry Svishchev said that the completed Summer Olympics in Paris was one of the worst in history. The parliamentarian criticized the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games, insufficient preparation of the Seine River for the performance of athletes in water sports, as well as the conditions of accommodation of the athletes themselves in the Olympic Village.
The closing ceremony took place on August 12 and was concluded to the song My Way by American Frank Sinatra. At the end of the ceremony, the Olympic flag was handed over to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass as a sign that the next Summer Olympics will be held in 2028 in Los Angeles, USA.
The Paris Olympics were held from July 26 to Aug. 11. Fifteen athletes from Russia competed in neutral status in five sports. The Paralympic Games will be held from August 28 to September 8.
