There were 15 powerful flares on the Sun on December 29. This was reported in the Institute of Applied Geophysics told TASS.

According to experts, the first of the flares occurred on Sunday night at 1:14 Moscow time and lasted 19 minutes.

Later in the day, 14 more flashes of class M and X were registered. According to space weather monitoring, the most powerful of them were a flare of class X1.1 at 10:18 Moscow time, as well as class M7.1 at 18:09 Moscow time.

Before that, on December 26, Russian scientists predicted a powerful solar flare. According to specialists of the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, already now on the star increased level of background X-ray radiation. And also increased the area of active solar zones. Scientists say that the emergence of the highest category X flare is expected.
