An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 occurred in the western part of the Canadian province of Quebec, the tremors were felt by residents of Ottawa and Montreal. This follows from the data of the state service of Canada on earthquake monitoring on December 29.

It is specified that the origin of seismic event lay at a depth of 18 km, and its epicenter was located 75 km north-west of the village of Manivaki, located about 130 km north of Ottawa. There were no casualties or damage.

According to the CTV channel, residents of the surrounding settlements and small towns, as well as a number of districts of Ottawa and Montreal reported that they felt the tremors. Thus, one of the residents claimed that from the underground vibration from the roof of his house fell snow.

Earlier, on September 16, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 occurred off the coast of Canada in 272 km northwest of Port McNeil. According to the service, the origin of the earthquake lay at a depth of 10 km.
