A Zabaikalye resident was sentenced for a fatal drunken road accident

The court in the Zabaikalsk region passed a sentence on a 24-year-old motorist, who caused the death of a woman in a traffic accident. The regional prosecutor's office reports about it in its Telegram-channel.

The accident occurred on July 15, 2024 on Stroitelnaya Street in Chita. It is established that a 24-year-old young man in a state of intoxication sat behind the wheel of a passenger car Isuzu Gemini and put two passengers in the cabin. Moving towards the highway "Amur" at a speed of 116 km / h, he failed to cope with the control, the car skidded and thrown to the curb, where it overturned. One of the women died on the spot.

"During the preliminary investigation and in court, the man did not admit guilt, explaining that he does not remember the circumstances of the incident at all," - stated in the message. The court found the Transbaikalian guilty under paragraphs "a", "c" of part 4 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules by a person who is intoxicated and has no right to drive a vehicle, causing the death of a person by negligence") and sentenced him to five years and six months of imprisonment in a penal colony. He is prohibited from driving for the next two years.
