About 64 thousand tons of contaminated soil were collected from the Kuban coastline


From the coast of Kuban employees of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and volunteers have collected about 64 thousand tons of sand and soil. This is reported on December 29 by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
"A total of 63,597 tons of contaminated sand and soil have been collected by employees of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and volunteers since the beginning of the work, taken to landfills more than 34 tons," - noted the agency in Telegram.
It is reported that in the Krasnodar region surveyed 220 km of the coast. Work is underway on the collection and removal of contaminated soil in the area of 61 km.
Also in Crimea oil products were found on the city beach of Arshintsevskaya spit. Since the beginning of works about 7 tons of contaminated sand and soil have been collected and removed for a day.
In the Krasnodar region since December 26, the emergency regime of the federal level is in force, and in Crimea since December 28, the emergency regime of regional character was declared. To eliminate the consequences of the oil spill, a safe sorbent was delivered to the Kuban, as well as a unit for pumping oil products from sunken tankers.
December 23, Governor of Krasnodar Region Veniamin Kondratiev said that more than 12 thousand tons of contaminated soil will be disposed of in the farm Bely in the Temryuksky district of Krasnodar Region. It was reported that in the industrial zone of Anapa a temporary transshipment site is being created, where the soil from the beaches will be brought and then taken to special enterprises. This decision was made jointly with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Rosprirodnadzor.
The tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. As a result of the incident there was a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels. It was specified that one person died.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, created a working group to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the accident with tankers in the Kerch Strait.
