Azerbaijani authorities introduce restrictions for Russian citizens to stay in the country for 90 days per calendar year. This is reported in a statement of the Azerbaijani government on December 29.

"The term of temporary stay of non-residents in the country is 90 days within one calendar year. There can be no more," the statement says on its website.

It is reported that the restrictions will be for citizens who enter the country without a visa, and will come into force on January 1, 2025.

Earlier, on August 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law introducing a migration regime of expulsion of foreign citizens or stateless persons illegally staying in the country or violating the law.

On June 8, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said in an interview with Izvestia that Russia will never be a country closed to foreign labor, as this is a dead-end path. She noted that the migration policy should be clear, governmental and verified. It needs some adjustment, which is being done by a working group, including the SF, Matvienko said.
