Bodies of all 179 dead in South Korea plane crash found


The bodies of all 179 victims of the Boeing 737-800 airplane of Jeju Air, which crashed in South Korea, have been found. This was reported by the agency Yonhap on December 29.
According to its data, the vessel crashed into the outer wall of the runway during landing and caught fire.
"A total of 179 dead were found at the scene at Muang Airport. In this disaster survived two flight attendants, they were rescued from the tail part of the plane at the beginning of the search," the agency wrote with reference to the data of the rescue services.
It is noted that the identities of the dead are being established by comparing fingerprints. At present, 77 dead have been identified.
The crash of a Jeju Air plane while landing at Muang airport became known earlier in the day. Authorities are investigating the scene to determine the exact cause of the crash, and rescue operations are also underway. According to the airport authority, the plane crashed on landing on the fuselage due to a landing gear failure before it could shed speed.
South Korean authorities have retrieved the black boxes from the plane. A flight recorder and an audio recording device were recovered. The country has declared seven days of national mourning in connection with the crash.
