It is noted that it all began with the publication that the chief police officer of New York City Jeffrey Maddry paid overtime to Lieutenant Kwatisha Epps for services of an intimate nature at the headquarters of the department.

This way the latter was able to earn more than $400 thousand in 2024 alone. The investigation revealed that Maddry lacked the authority to sign off on the payments. On the day of publication, Maddry resigned and said that he and Epps had a voluntary close relationship, no deal was out of the question.

Earlier, on June 30, a police officer in New York shot and killed a 13-year-old teenager of Karen origin (one of the main ethnic groups in Myanmar) who pointed a firearm moulage at the law enforcers.
