Rescue services have retrieved 176 bodies from the crashed Boeing 737-800 airplane of Jeju Air in South Korea. This was reported on December 29 by the agency Yonhap with reference to firefighters.
"As of 18:10 (local time, 12:10 Moscow time), the fire department announced that 176 people have been retrieved from the crash site at Muang Airport," the publication said.
According to the agency, of the 181 people on board, 176 were killed, three were reported missing and two were rescued.
It is specified that rescue services will continue to search for missing people at night.
The crash of the Jeju Air plane while landing at Muang Airport was reported earlier in the day. Authorities are investigating the scene to determine the exact cause of the crash, and rescue operations are also underway. According to the airport authority, the plane crashed while landing on the fuselage due to landing gear failure before it could shed speed.
