Bastrykin and Azerbaijani Prosecutor General discuss investigation of Aktau crash

Chairman of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin held telephone talks with Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kyamran Aliyev on the investigation of the crash of the plane of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAI) in Kazakhstan. This was reported in the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation on December 29.

"The heads of departments discussed the progress of the investigation into the circumstances of the crash of the plane of Azerbaijan Airlines near the city of Aktau in the Republic of Kazakhstan," - noted in the Telegram-channel.

It is noted that during the talks it was said about the timely and comprehensive interaction of investigators from Russia and criminalists with employees of operational groups of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Bastrykin said that the Russian side has taken all measures and recruited the best specialists from the central office of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the field of investigation of air accidents, which have at their disposal the latest forensic equipment.

A passenger plane of AZAL Airlines, heading on the route Baku - Grozny, crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau on December 25. The Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan named the preliminary cause of the crash as outside interference. After the incident, a criminal case was initiated. According to the airline's list, 62 passengers and five crew members were on board. A total of 38 bodies were found at the crash site.

Seven Russians died in the airplane crash, nine Russian citizens survived. Later, a special airplane of the Russian Emergencies Ministry delivered them to Moscow. Three people from the crew survived.
