FSB detains Russian for handing over photos of fuel and energy facilities in the Moscow region to Ukraine

The Federal Security Service has detained a Russian citizen for state treason. He is suspected of transferring photos of the fuel and energy complex facilities in the Moscow Region to Ukraine. This was reported on December 29 by the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.

"A citizen of the Russian Federation born in 1983 was detained on suspicion of committing high treason," - noted in the message.

According to the FSB, the detainee established communication via Telegram with a representative of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and on the instructions of the curator for a monetary reward collected and transferred photo materials of the fuel and energy complex facility in the Moscow region.

A criminal case was opened against the detainee on the grounds of a crime under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code ("High Treason"). By court order, he was arrested.

Operative-search activities and investigative actions in the case continue.

Earlier, on December 16, the Military Court sentenced Vasily Zharkov, accused of state treason, participation in the terrorist organization "Russian Freedom Legion" (recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia) and preparation of sabotage at strategic facilities in the Moscow region, to 19 years in prison.
