Media told of worsening relations between Germany and Turkey over kebabs

Relations between Turkey and Germany have escalated due to disputes over the correct technology of kebab preparation. This was reported by the British newspaper The Telegraph on December 29, calling the situation with the popular dish a "war" between the countries.
"Berlin and Ankara quarreled over meat food, and the EU (European Union. - Ed.) had to decide on the future status of the popular fast food," the publication said.
In April, Turkey applied to register the Turkish version of the dish with the EU, which would guarantee it the same level of protection as French champagne or Neapolitan pizza from Italy, the publication said. Germany has since filed a complaint.
As explained by the authors of the material, if Brussels sides with Turkey, the FRG will be forced to either completely change the name of the kebab, or cook the dish in accordance with the Turkish recipe.
Until spring, Germany and Turkey will decide the issue on their own. If the countries do not find a compromise, the European Commission (EC) will resolve the conflict over doner kebab.
Earlier, on September 27, it was reported that the EC gave six months to Germany and Turkey to resolve the dispute over the correct recipe for doner kebab. If Turkey wins the dispute, the popular dish will have to be sold in Europe under a new name.
