Russian chess player Murzin became the World Rapid Champion


Russian chess player Volodar Murzin won the World Rapid Chess Championship (WRC) held in New York on December 28, Sport-Express newspaper reported.
Based on the results of 13 games, the 18-year-old chess player scored 10 points. In the final round he drew with white pieces with Karen Grigoryan from Armenia. During the tournament Murzin was "seeded" at number 59.
The second place at the World Rapid Chess Championship went to Russian Alexander Grischuk, and the third place went to Russian Jan Nepomnyashchy, who scored 9.5 points. Thus, Russia took the entire podium at the World Cup Rapid.
Earlier, on December 28, it became known that the International Chess Federation (FIDE) disqualified Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen at the World Championship in Blitz and Rapid due to violation of the dress code. The reason for the chess player's suspension was jeans, in which he came to the next day of the competition.
The day before, on December 27, Russian chess player Jan Nepomnyashchy was fined $200 because of inappropriate dress code at the World Blitz and Rapid Championships, which took place in New York.
