Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin, who plays for the Washington Capitals hockey club (HC), took part in an official National Hockey League (NHL) game in Toronto on December 28 for the first time after a leg injury.

"On the court appeared Russian forward "Washington" Alexander Ovechkin, who has recovered from a broken leg. The Russian has not played since November 19," reported Sport-Express.

The Russian was injured in the third period of the game against Utah on November 19. The hockey player injured his knee in a collision with the opposing team's forward Jack McBain and was forced to leave the ice. Later, the hockey player's agent Gleb Chistyakov said that the athlete feels normal, but will miss four to six weeks due to a fracture of the left fibula.

The match ended with a victory of the guests with a score of 5:2.

The day before, the NHL website reported that Ovechkin could play Saturday against Toronto for the first time since his injury. On Friday, Ovechkin had his first full practice with his team. Prior to that, Ovechkin resumed on-ice workouts on Dec. 2.
