Thai PM offers condolences to loved ones of those killed in South Korea plane crash

Thai Prime Minister Phetthong Than Shinawatra on Dec. 29 offered condolences to the loved ones of those killed in the plane crash at Muang Airport, and ordered assistance to possibly surviving Thai nationals.
"In the case of Jeju Air, the initial report said 29 people died (this is the current report). I would like to extend my condolences to the families of the victims and survivors," she wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
In addition, Shinawatra instructed the foreign ministry to urgently investigate whether there were Thai passengers on the plane and report the current situation.
"I have ordered immediate assistance. If there are any Thai passengers, please contact their families to inform them of the progress of the case and ask the foreign ministry to continuously report the situation," she concluded.
The crash of the Jeju Air plane while landing at Muang Airport was reported earlier in the day. Authorities are investigating the scene to determine the exact cause of the crash, and rescue operations are also underway. According to the airport authority, the plane crashed while landing on the fuselage due to landing gear failure before it could shed speed. Twenty-eight people were killed, Yonhap news agency later reported.
