The American TV channel Fox News on December 28 included in the list of major political blunders of 2024 the reservation of US President Joe Biden, who confused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (whose term expired on May 20) with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

"I would now like to turn the floor over to the President of Ukraine, who is as brave as he is decisive. Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin," Biden said, speaking at a NATO summit in Washington in July.

After realizing his mistake, the Democrat attempted to correct the situation, but the caveat immediately became an occasion for ridicule and criticism.

Fox News also included another unfortunate statement of the American leader in their list. On the eve of the US presidential election in November, Biden called supporters of US President-elect Donald Trump "garbage."

Later, US Vice President Kamala Harris commented on Biden's comparison of Trump supporters to garbage. She said that she strongly disagrees with the criticism of groups of people based on which candidate they support. The White House, for its part, sent out a transcript, pointing out that Biden did not say that Trump supporters are trash, but merely confused his words and condemns Hinchcliffe's remarks specifically.
