A passenger plane that crashed at South Korea's Muang International Airport crashed while landing on the fuselage before it could shed speed. This was reported by the Yonhap news agency on Sunday, December 29.

According to the airport authority, it was determined that the accident occurred while the plane was landing due to landing gear failure.

"It failed to land properly on the first landing, so it turned around again and tried to land again when the accident occurred <...> apparently the fuselage was damaged after hitting the airport's barrier structure, resulting in a fire," the agency said in a statement.

At the same time increased the number of rescued passengers - up to three.

The crash of a Jeju Air plane while landing at Muang airport became known earlier in the day. Authorities are investigating the scene to determine the exact cause of the crash, and rescue operations are also underway. As Yonhap News Agency later reported, 28 people were killed.
