Crews of Su-35 multi-purpose super-maneuverable fighter jets with controlled thrust vectoring of the Russian Air and Space Forces (VKS) have provided cover for VKS crews in the border areas of the Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 29.

It is noted that air cover was provided for bomber and attack aircraft, as well as helicopters of the army aviation during air strikes against armored vehicles and manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

In addition, with the help of a complex of aviation weapons, the aircraft performed detection of air defense objects of the AFU.

Earlier, on December 26, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the crew of the Su-34 multirole supersonic fighter-bomber of the Russian Armed Forces launched a strike against the AFU personnel and a stronghold in the border area of Kursk Region. The strike on the reconnaissance enemy targets was carried out by aviation bombs with a universal planning and correction module (UMPK).

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory are being liquidated.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
