- Zurabishvili will spend the night at the residence before the inauguration of Georgia's new president

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili will spend the night in the residence before the inauguration of the new leader of the country. She stated this in her video message on December 28.
"Greetings from the Orbeliani Palace. Here I am, I will be here, I will spend the night here," Zurabishvili informed.
The Georgian president urged her supporters to come to the residence at 10:00 (9:00 Moscow time), where she will share her plans for this and the following days.
Protests that began in November over the suspension of European integration talks and the opposition's disagreement with the results of parliamentary elections continue in Georgia. On December 14, the country also held presidential elections, which were won by Georgian Dream candidate Mikhail Kavelashvili.
In both cases, incumbent President Salome Zurabishvili did not recognize the results and refused to leave office, despite the completion of her term on December 29. On December 22, she threatened to "topple the regime" if no compromise was reached on the parliamentary elections and gave the authorities a week to call them. In turn, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze warned Zurabishvili of criminal liability.
