In Kaliningrad, police returned 12 million rubles stolen by fraudsters to a woman


Police in Kaliningrad returned stolen 12 million rubles to a 52-year-old victim of fraudsters. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Telegram on December 28.
In early December, a resident of Kaliningrad received a call from con artists, posing as bank and law enforcement officials, who convinced the woman to hand over her savings to a courier, assuring that the money would be transferred to a "safe account." The victim handed over to the courier in cash €50 thousand and more than $65 thousand, amounting to the ruble equivalent of more than 12 million rubles.
"Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kaliningrad region on hot tracks detained two accomplices of telephone fraudsters aged 19 and 20 years old, who came from St. Petersburg. The money was seized <...> The currency was returned to the citizen in full", - stated in the message.
A criminal case under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed by an organized group") was initiated. Figurants were taken into custody.
A day earlier it was reported that in Moscow a student gave the fraudsters cash and jewelry from the safe for a total of 7.5 million rubles. During communication, the criminals forced the victim to install an unknown application and tell about the property in the apartment.
