Dyukov became the only candidate for the post of RFU president

The current president of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Dyukov became the only and unconditional candidate for the election of the head of the organization, which will be held on February 2, 2025. This is reported on December 28 on the website of the organization at the end of the meeting of the election committee of the RFU.
At the meeting of the election committee considered all the documents received from the members of the RFU and the candidates nominated by them on registration for the elections.
"At the end of the meeting registered the next candidate for election to the post of RFU President <...> Dyukov Alexander Valeryevich (nominated by 77 organizations - members of the RFU)," - reports the press service.
As Vyacheslav Koloskov, honorary president of the RFU, commented, there is no alternative to Dyukov, who is doing a lot of work to develop the sport.
"He has an extensive, structured, clear program, which, importantly, is provided with finances. We have a budget of about 15 billion rubles - no other federation can even dream of such a thing. I see what a gigantic work Dyukov is doing in his post, how soccer is developing in the country, not only professional soccer," TASS quoted him as saying.
Dyukov is 57 years old, he heads the RFU since February 2019, specifies "Sport-Express". Before that, from 2008 to 2017, he was president of the soccer club (FC) Zenit, also headed its Board of Directors.
Earlier, on December 25, Dyukov told Izvestia that he intends to clarify with the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations, Peter Szijjarto, which two Russian soccer clubs avoided being included in the 15th package of European Union (EU) sanctions. Thus, since February 10, 2020, Grozny's Akhmat has been under U.S. sanctions. On February 22, 2022, CSKA Moscow joined it. However, the EU countries have not yet imposed sanctions against Russian clubs. As Dyukov noted, he himself is wondering which FCs were not included in the list.
Before that, on December 16, Szijjártó said that Hungary managed to get Patriarch Kirill, Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzi, the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) and two Russian soccer clubs excluded from the new EU sanctions package.
