A doctor has given tips on how to return to work stress-free

During the New Year vacations, many people's lifestyles change. People go to bed later than usual, sleep longer in the morning, and instead of the usual oatmeal or cheese sandwich, they eat yesterday's olivier. Biological rhythms are disrupted, and excess caloric food (and possibly alcoholic beverages) puts additional strain on the digestive, cardiovascular, nervous systems. On how to return to work without harm, "Izvestia" told the "Izvestia" medical expert of the laboratory "Hemotest" Olga Ulankina.
"To go out after the holidays was easier, it is better to start preparing for the new working year in advance. For 3-4 days before the end of the vacation is recommended to gradually return to the usual mode of the day: go to bed earlier, do not stay up late, do not plan activities for late evening. If possible, you should also return to the usual diet. It is best to choose simple but well-balanced dishes, refuse alcoholic beverages, do not abuse coffee and try to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at the same time. This will help the body to quickly return to the usual rhythm of life," - said the doctor.
In addition, walks in the fresh air and exercise can be included in the daily regimen almost without restrictions, if they do not lead to hypothermia or fatigue. Physical activity can help the body recover from the holidays, increase stamina and boost immunity.
"To help your brain set itself up to be productive, it's important to prepare yourself psychologically. You can make a plan of tasks for the coming week or month, write out everything that requires attention in the first days at work, outline goals for the year or quarter. This practice helps to reduce anxiety: the fear that the flow of tasks will cover from the first working day will be replaced by a clear plan. It is also useful to analyze your work tasks and try to identify those that bring more pleasure or satisfaction, inspire. Literally remind yourself why you once chose this profession or this place of work", - said the expert.
On the first working day after the holidays, it is important to try not to overload yourself with tasks. If possible, it is better to choose simpler ones, those that do not require special concentration. To make it easier for the body to reorganize, it is important to take breaks every 1-1.5 hours for rest. You can include in your work schedule short breaks for breathing practice, meditation or warm-up.
"Adapting after the holidays can take a few days. There is no need to worry if your work pace is a little slower in the first few days. If the body received enough rest, physical activity and nutrients during the vacations, productivity will soon recover, and the strength accumulated during the vacations will help to fulfill the plan faster," Ulankina reminded.
Earlier, on December 26, Yulia Krylenko, head of HR practice at Adizes Business Consulting, told Izvestia about burnout at work. According to her, if a person's productivity is initially low, the rapidity of tasks, strict deadlines and unforeseen circumstances can throw him out of balance.
