US President-elect Donald Trump may force Ukraine to conclude a peace agreement without providing it with security guarantees. This was reported by the British newspaper Financial Times (FT) on December 28.

"Trump is imposing a peace deal on Ukraine without accompanying security guarantees. Sanctions against Russia are softened," the publication says.

According to the material, the settlement will take place in the form of a major deal between the United States, Russia and China. Under the terms of the agreement, the United States will allegedly cede a number of spheres of influence.

Trump in the course of efforts to resolve the conflict may invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to his residence in Mar-a-Lago "for Thanksgiving dinner", adds Gazeta.Ru.

On the same day, Berliner Zeitung reported that negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine should be held between Russia and the United States. According to the piece, critical issues will be discussed bilaterally.

On the same day, retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis expressed the opinion that the position of the future president of the United States in the negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict would become weaker with each passing day after his inauguration scheduled for January 20.

On 24 December, Kremlin spokesman Dmitriy Peskov pointed out that there was no movement on the part of Kiev towards readiness for talks with Moscow. Peskov clarified that Russia is always open to a peaceful resolution of the crisis.

Earlier, on December 22, Trump said that he was waiting for a meeting with Putin to start negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. The Republican added that if he were in the shoes of current US President Joe Biden, he would not have allowed such a crisis.

The last round of talks between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul on March 29, 2022. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially refused contacts with Moscow.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
