Doctor named the most insidious alcoholic drink at the New Year's table

Andrei Gostryy, a general practitioner, founder and head of the Institute of integral preventive and anti-aging medicine PreventAge, called sparkling wine the most insidious drink on the New Year's table.
In a conversation with Lenta.Ru on Saturday, December 28, the specialist explained that although a person can drink wine much less than strong alcohol in one evening, the morning consequences can be "much more dramatic". He said wines contain fungal fermentation byproducts that can also have toxic effects.
"The hangover effect of wines is related to their neurotoxic effects, that is, their toxicity to the nervous tissue, and therefore the brain," the medic shared.
In the case of sparkling wines, the situation is aggravated by the fact that the drink contains gases, and bubbles accelerate the absorption of both alcohol and the above-mentioned toxins.
Also to the problem alcohol doctor referred beer, as it can disrupt the digestion of carbohydrates, causing fermentation dyspepsia, the main signs of which are heartburn and flatulence.
Gostry emphasized that excessive consumption of any alcoholic beverages will have negative consequences for the body.
Earlier on December 28, the chief narcologist of the Moscow region Vitaly Kholdin told about alternatives to alcohol on the New Year's table. According to him, it can be replaced by cocktails based on juices, fruits and carbonated water, smoothies, herbal teas. Such drinks can be served with both cold and hot dishes, reports 360.ru.
On December 26, a survey showed that champagne has become the most popular alcoholic drink that Russians choose on New Year's Eve. It is chosen by 86% of respondents. Two-thirds of the survey participants noted that they choose red wine, 23% of respondents favor white wine, and 18% - beer, notes NSN.
On the same day, narcologist Alina Sazonova called white dry wine the least dangerous alcoholic drink. She also urged not to mix alcohol with sweet drinks and sweet food: in this case, the processing of alcohol in the body slows down. Also, do not dilute alcohol with sodas, because the absorption of alcohol is faster due to gas bubbles.
