Afghan forces struck areas of Pakistan in response to the attack of Pakistani aircraft on the territory of Afghanistan. This was reported by France 24 TV channel on December 28, citing the Afghan Defense Ministry.

"In response, several locations outside the hypothetical line that served as centers and hideouts for malicious elements and their supporters who organized and coordinated attacks in Afghanistan were attacked from the southeastern direction of the country," the media outlet quoted the ministry as saying.

It is reported that Afghanistan has for many years rejected the border, known as the "hypothetical line", drawn by British colonial authorities in the XIX century between the territories of present-day Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Earlier, on December 27, the head of a government commission investigating the aftermath of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) bombing of Barmal district of eastern Afghan province of Paktika, Afghan Minister of Border and Tribal Affairs Nurullah Nuri confirmed that at least 50 people were killed and about 40 civilians were injured in the bombing strikes.
