In 2024, Russians were most likely to choose moderate vacations


According to the results of 2024, three main categories of recreation can be distinguished: active, moderate and passive. This is stated in the research of Sidorin Lab (SL) and "Tutu.ru", which was reviewed by "Izvestia" on December 30.
Active vacation (hiking, skiing, surfing, fishing) was chosen by 5% of respondents. This format has become especially popular among young people: 53% of active travelers are men aged about 38 years. On such vacations they go, above all, to recharge their energy, as well as to spend time in nature, challenge themselves and be alone with themselves.
According to the study, an unusual finding in user mentions was a fascination with archaeology, which unexpectedly proved popular among active vacationers. Searching for artifacts and participating in excavations is becoming more and more in demand as an active leisure activity.
Moderate recreation (excursions, visiting museums, gastrotourism) was preferred by 57% of the survey participants. The key factors in choosing such a vacation were the price of accommodation and meals. The average age of moderate vacationers is 41 years old, 54% of them are women. This format was chosen to change the environment, expand their horizons and learn something new.
"Moderate rest helps to change the environment, learn something new and spend time pleasantly without getting tired. Respondents note that they love this type of vacation for the opportunity to learn about history, try local dishes and be inspired by the atmosphere of other cities. Affordable prices for accommodation, food and entertainment are important. The average trip costs 62 thousand rubles," - said the marketing research manager of "Tutu.ru" Anastasia Zueva.
Passive recreation (beach vacation, spa, meditation) attracted 38% of respondents. This format was often chosen to restore health and vacation with family. The average age of survey participants choosing passive vacation is 43 years old, 56% of them are women. At the same time, the analysis of mentions in social networks showed that about 52% of users prefer passive home recreation - from watching movies to meditation. Active vacations are more popular among men, while women more often choose quiet formats.
"Usually our idea of what people do is based on our immediate environment. In this case, we analyzed the entire amount of data in the Russian segment of the network, where users shared information about their preferred leisure format. And this gives an objective picture of how it really is," added Evgeny Kuznetsov, director of analytics at SL and one of the authors of the study.
Earlier, on December 20, service "Sletat.ru" told "Izvestia" about popular destinations for the New Year holidays among Russians. According to the study, the top 10 popular destinations for New Year holidays were Egypt, Thailand, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey, China, Sri Lanka, India, Maldives, as well as some regions of Russia. A year earlier, Cuba and Venezuela were also in the top 10.
