Negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine should take place between Russia and the USA. This was reported by the Berliner Zeitung on December 28.

"Even if some Europeans are now loudly talking about their own, the decision on a ceasefire in Ukraine will be taken by the superpowers - the United States and Russia," the report noted.

The piece also indicated that critical issues will be discussed bilaterally.

In addition, the publication added that there are positions of the parties where non-compliance with certain agreements is unacceptable. Russia opposes Ukraine's membership in NATO, so if the West insists otherwise, the negotiations may be disrupted.

Earlier, on December 22, US President-elect Donald Trump said that he was waiting for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to start negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. The Republican added that if he were in the shoes of current US President Joe Biden, he would not have allowed such a crisis at all.

The last round of talks between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul on March 29, 2022. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially refused contacts with Moscow.
