Police in German Brandenburg have detained a 15-year-old teenager on suspicion of intent to attack a church in Berlin. This December 27 reports radio station rbb24, citing the words of a police spokesman.

It is noted that the young man was in contact with people suspected of belonging to ISIS ("Islamic State", a terrorist group banned in Russia).

It is reported that the apartment of the suspect was searched, but no firearms or explosives were found. According to a police spokesman, it is currently unknown whether the teenager acted alone.

Earlier in January this year, an armed attack took place during a prayer service at a Catholic church in Istanbul. It was reported that two attackers were wearing masks and were "participating" in Sunday prayer. One person was killed and several others were injured in the incident.
