In the town of Zima in the Irkutsk region, a criminal case has been opened over the death of a seven-year-old boy in a fire. The regional Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of Russia reports about it in its Telegram-channel on Saturday, December 28.

The fire occurred the day before in a wooden private house on Lunacharskogo Street, where there was a 16-year-old girl and her seven-year-old brother, whom she looked after while the parents were away.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the girl managed to run out of the house, the boy was found by firefighters behind the bed, where he hid, frightened by the fire. In an unconscious state, the rescuers handed over the child inhaled carbon monoxide to the medics, but it was possible to save him. The boy died in hospital.

A criminal case has been opened under part 1 of article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Causing death by negligence". A number of expert examinations have been appointed, the circumstances of the tragedy are being established.

According to preliminary data, the fire started due to short circuit of electric wiring. The area of fire amounted to 70 square meters, 19 people and five units of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.

In the evening of December 25, a fire occurred in a one-story residential building for two apartments in Transbaikalia. Two adults and two little girls of three and one and a half years old died.
