Su-35S fighter jets provided cover for air crews of the All-Union Air Forces in the Kursk Region

Crews of Su-35S multipurpose super-maneuverable fighter jets of the Russian Air and Space Forces (VKS) have performed air cover for air crews of the Russian Air Force in the border area of the Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 28.

Performing combat missions, crews of fighter jets with controlled thrust vector practiced covering the actions of bomber and attack aircraft in the specified area, as well as helicopters of the army aviation in the course of air strikes on armored vehicles and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

"Also with the help of a complex of aviation weapons, the aircraft performed the detection of enemy air defense objects," - specified in the Department.

Before that, on December 26, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the crew of the Su-34 multirole supersonic fighter-bomber of the Russian Air Force launched a strike on the personnel and a stronghold of the AFU in the border area of the Kursk region. The strike on the reconnaissance enemy targets was carried out by aviation bombs with a universal planning and correction module (UMPK).

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory are being liquidated.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
