The doctor gave tips on how to relieve the symptoms of cystitis

Refusal of coffee, alcohol, citrus fruits and spicy foods, as well as drinking plenty of water will help relieve the symptoms of cystitis. This was told to "Gazeta.Ru" on December 28, doctor-urologist of the clinic DocMed Anastasia Kortyshkova.
The doctor explained that cystitis is an inflammatory disease of the bladder and is accompanied by frequent and painful urination, as well as pain in the pubic area. If symptoms appear, it is necessary to consult a urologist, get professional advice and treatment. That said, there are a number of ways to help relieve symptoms before seeing a doctor.
"Increasing fluid intake will help dilute urine and reduce bladder irritation. Try to drink at least 2-3 liters of water per day. This will help increase the frequency of urination and prevent bacteria buildup in the bladder. Avoid irritating foods and drinks. Coffee, citrus fruits, spicy foods and alcohol can all increase burning and pain," explained the specialist.
It is better to temporarily abstain from baths, saunas or heating pads, the doctor continued. They do help relieve tension, but heat will only increase blood circulation in the affected areas, spreading inflammation.
"If it is not possible to consult a doctor, it is recommended to independently take an antibacterial drug Fosfomycin (Monural) in a dosage of 3 g once or Nitrofurantoin 100 mg three times a day for 5-7 days - in the absence of allergic reactions and contraindications. These drugs are effective in 90% of cases of acute cystitis and usually lead to improvement in 72 hours", - summarized Kortyshkova.
Earlier, on October 14, Pavel Nizin, a urologist at SberZdorovye medical company, told Izvestia that acute cystitis occurs in 20-25% of women during their lives, with every third woman having a relapse of the disease within a year.
