Nutriciologist told about strengthening immunity in winter


In winter it is especially important to monitor the level of vitamins D and C. This was told on December 28 by nutriciologist, functional nutritionist, expert of Spice Active brand Julia Maltseva.
According to her, in the winter period, the choice of fresh fruits and vegetables is reduced, as well as minus temperatures and reduced daylight hours slow down metabolism. These factors can provoke vitamin deficiencies in the body. Stress is often added to the above, negatively affecting the immune system, the expert emphasized.
"Full sleep, regular exercise and effective stress management techniques all play a significant role. Equally important is a balanced diet that provides the body with the necessary vitamins and minerals," she told Gazeta.Ru.
In addition, the nutritionist recommended taking vitamins to support immunity. Maltseva advised to especially monitor the level of vitamin D and C in winter.
Biologically active supplements (BAA) themselves should be chosen with caution, she emphasized. According to her, it is necessary to pay attention to the form and dosage of active substances.
"To improve the absorption of vitamins and minerals, it is best to choose supplements with natural enhancers - biobusters - as which are extracts of such plants as black pepper (piperine), ginger, curcumin, saffron and garlic," Maltseva said.
The expert also urged to pay special attention to the presence of international GMP and ISO certificates for dietary supplements. It is they, according to her, indicate the safety and quality of products.

According to the expert, this requires vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin C, which is found in citrus fruits and berries, vitamin D - in fish and eggs, and zinc - in meat and seafood. She also advised to establish a sleep and dietary regimen, and to add moderate exercise.
