The party "Fair Russia - For Truth" will introduce a bill to the State Duma on the payment of Br10 thousand to citizens over 70 years old to purchase fuel for home heating. This was reported in the press service of the party on Saturday, December 28.

The bill proposes to amend the law on social assistance, adding an article on the payment of Br10 thousand to buy fuel for heating. Citizens over 70 years old living in houses without central heating will be able to receive this payment from the Pension and Social Insurance Fund.

Based on Rosstat statistics, the lack of heat in homes ranks fourth among the most acute domestic problems in Russia. According to the results of social surveys, every tenth Russian family lacks heat in their homes, and every fifteenth has to heat their homes with stoves, party leader Sergei Mironov told TASS.

He emphasized that although in some regions it is possible to procure firewood on one's own, this requires permits. It is especially difficult for lonely pensioners and the disabled, who have neither the means nor the strength to provide themselves with fuel for heating.

Earlier, December 26, a member of the Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, Svetlana Bessarab, reminded that Russian pensioners are exempt from paying land tax if the area of the plot does not exceed six acres. She noted that support measures for pensioners may vary depending on the region where pensioners live.
