German MP calls for 100,000 drones to be purchased for the Bundeswehr

The German government needs to purchase 100,000 drones for the German Armed Forces because the Bundeswehr is far behind modern developments in the field of drones. This was stated by Florian Hahn, a Bundestag deputy and defense expert of the Christian Social Union (CSU), in an interview with NTV on December 28.
"The Bundeswehr is light-years behind modern developments in the field of drones. We must immediately purchase 100,000 drones for the Bundeswehr," Hahn said.
According to him, the Social Democrats, whose representative is Chancellor Olaf Scholz, blocked the purchase of armed drones deliberately.
Hahn added that drone defenses should be expanded and the procurement of new UAVs should be greatly accelerated. Currently, the Bundeswehr has only reconnaissance drones, and the first five vehicles are not expected until 2026.
Earlier, on March 12, it became known that the German government plans to purchase 10 self-propelled howitzers Panzerhaubitze 2000, as the German army is experiencing a shortage of artillery.
Prior to that, on March 3, military expert Ilya Kramnik told Izvestia that NATO countries are running out of weapons. At the same time, the Financial Times newspaper wrote that Germany's ammunition stockpiles were severely depleted and needed €20 billion to replenish them.
At the end of January, The Economist wrote that the Bundeswehr was in the most dismal state than at any time in history. Because of Ukraine 's support, Germany's military is barely able to support its own army.
