Russians told about the most popular products for the New Year's table

New Year's Eve is a time of customs and delicious feasts that bring families together across the country. The majority of respondents intend to spend two to five hours in the kitchen to prepare the perfect menu that will reflect the spirit of the holiday. This is reported in the study of the marketplace "Svoye Rodnoe" of Rosselkhozbank, which was reviewed by "Izvestia" on December 28.
According to the research of analysts, meat products and poultry are the most demanded - they account for 35% of the total number of orders. The traditional New Year's products are of particular interest: turkey, beef and homemade sausages. In second place are dairy products and cheeses (22%), which are used in appetizers and cheese boards. Rounding out the top three are fresh vegetables and herbs (18%), which serve as the basis for salads and side dishes.
There is also an increased interest in farm sweets and baked goods. In December, the number of orders in this category increased by 20%, which indicates the desire of customers to please their relatives not only with tasty, but also healthy desserts.
Experts noted that traditional dishes remain favorites on the New Year's table. Olivier salad confidently takes the leading position - 28% of respondents do not imagine the New Year without it. The second place is occupied by herring under fur coat (24%), and the third line is shared by baked meat or fish (22%). Moreover, 15% of survey participants are ready for culinary experiments and want to surprise their guests with new exquisite dishes, while 11% of respondents still have cold cakes on their menu.
The main hot dish for the majority of respondents (45%) will be baked chicken or duck. The second place is occupied by French-style meat, traditional for the holiday table, with 24%. Interestingly, 17% of survey participants do not intend to cook a hot dish at all, giving preference to appetizers, and 12% will choose fish. Vegetarian and vegan dishes remain a rarity - only 2% choose them.
In addition, when asked what Russians imagine the New Year's table to be like 10 years later, 55% of respondents expressed their desire for the table to be full and the dishes to be different in flavor. 36% of respondents want to keep traditional recipes, while 9% hope that ahead of us will be completely new culinary masterpieces, in line with the spirit of the times.
Earlier, on November 24, Natalia Kharchenko, candidate of medical sciences, gastroenterologist at the European Medical Center (EMC), told Izvestia about how to avoid harmful recipes and make New Year's dishes more useful. According to her, olivier, mimosa and herring under fur coat salads prepared according to the classic recipe contain too much fat and salt, while meat and cheese cuts are "rich" in preservatives, dyes and flavor enhancers.
