The AFU lost more than 250 soldiers in the Kursk region over the day

The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Kursk Region amounted to more than 250 servicemen over 24 hours. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 28.

"Over the day the losses of the AFU amounted to more than 250 servicemen, an infantry fighting vehicle, an armored fighting vehicle, six vehicles and five mortars were destroyed. One serviceman of the AFU surrendered as a prisoner of war", - stated in the message of the department.

In addition, units of the "North" group of forces defeated the Ukrainian army formations in the areas of 13 settlements. The Russian army also liquidated enemy military equipment and militants in Sumy region.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the AFU lost more than 44,000 servicemen in total during the fighting in the Kursk direction.

On the same day, army aviation crews on Mi-28NM helicopters as part of a mixed tactical group disrupted the rotation of AFU units in the border area of Kursk region. After the strike, the crews performed anti-missile maneuvering.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
