Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law on ratification of an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation with Tajikistan in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes. The corresponding document was posted on the website on December 28.

The agreement was signed in Moscow on June 19, 2023. It establishes a list of areas to be explored by the countries' joint efforts. For example, manned space flights and training, satellite systems, remote sensing of the Earth and others.

The purpose of the agreement is to implement a joint policy aimed at establishing and developing cooperative programs and projects in space exploration. The agreement will serve the effective achievement of results in this sphere.

The Russian side will finance the joint work at the expense of Roscosmos State Corporation and extrabudgetary sources, while the Tajik side will finance it at the expense of extrabudgetary sources.

Earlier, on December 24, Putin and Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon met at the Igora ski resort complex in the Leningrad Region. During the talks, the Russian leader called Tajikistan a reliable ally of the Russian Federation.

Prior to that, on November 15, Yuri Borisov, head of the Roscosmos state corporation, said at the meeting with Putin that space currently plays a big role in the Russian economy. According to him, at the moment the growth rate of the global space industry is much higher than the growth rate of the global GDP.
