Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that envisages the creation of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). The corresponding document was posted on the Internet portal of official publication of legal acts on December 28.

The Board of Trustees will consist of no more than 20 members. It will be formed and excluded by the head of state taking into account the proposals of the Presidium of the RAS. The President of the Academy of Sciences will be an obligatory member of the Board of Trustees.

The main purpose of the creation of the RAS Board of Trustees is to promote its timely development, as well as to solve the main tasks, including the formation of priorities for the Academy's activities, its cooperation with state and public organizations.

Putin submitted a bill to the State Duma on November 21, which proposed to create a board of trustees of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Earlier, November 11, the president of the national research center "Kurchatov Institute" Mikhail Kovalchuk said that at the moment scientists are not leaving Russia - on the contrary, many of them come to the Russian Federation from abroad for unique opportunities. As Kovalchuk noted, the world is now being reformatted. In particular, representatives of 100 countries, including scientists, came to the Russia National Center in Moscow last week to discuss development as part of the Creating the Future symposium.
