New car sales in Russia may reach 1.65 million units in 2025

In 2025, sales of new passenger cars in Russia may reach 1.65 million units, which is 6% higher than in 2024. The negative scenario assumes sales at the level of 1.5 million cars (-4%). This is stated in the forecast of Gazprombank Auto Leasing and Avtobiznesrevu, TASS reported on December 28.

According to the analysts, sales of Chinese cars will not exceed the figures of 2024 and will amount to about 1 million cars or will be reduced to 900 thousand units.

Lada will continue to dominate in terms of sales: it is assumed that dealers will sell 420-460 thousand cars and AvtoVAZ will occupy 28% of the market. As for other domestic automakers, experts predict sales of 27-30 thousand Moskvich, 18-20 thousand Solaris and 11-20 thousand UAZ.

Among Chinese brands the leadership next year will be taken by Haval with the result of 190-210 thousand crossovers, the brand share in the market will be about 12.7%, experts believe. Chery, Geely and Changan will be next in the rating. The toughest competition for a market share of 3% will unfold between Belgee, Jetour and Omoda, each of which will have sales of about 45-50 thousand units.

Up to a quarter of mass brands with sales of less than 100 cars per month may also leave the market, analysts warned.
