The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has disqualified Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen at the World Blitz and Rapid Championships because of a dress code violation. This was reported on December 28 by American chess player and video blogger Levi Roseman (pseudonym - GothemChess) in the social network X (former Twitter).

He reported that the reason for Carlsen's suspension was the jeans in which he came to the next day of the competition.

During the championship, the Norwegian has already received a warning because of non-compliance with the dress code, writes "Gazeta.Ru".

World Championships are held in New York from December 26 to 31.

The day before, on December 27, Russian chess player Jan Nepomnyashchy was fined $200 because of inappropriate dress code at the World Blitz and Rapid Championships, which was held in New York.
