Former head coach of the Russian national volleyball team Italian Daniele Bagnoli died at the age of 72. This was reported by the Italian Volleyball Federation on December 27.
"The world of Italian volleyball mourns, today passed away Daniele Bagnoli - one of the most successful coaches of Italian volleyball at the club level," - said in a statement published on the website.
President of the Italian Volleyball Federation Giuseppe Manfredi expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased.
According to the World of Volley portal, the Italian coach had been battling illness for a long time.
Daniele Bagnoli led the Russian men's national team from 2009 to 2010. Under him, the team won the World League silver medal in 2010 and bronze in 2009.
In 2008 he was also the head coach of Dynamo Moscow. Then the team became the champion of Russia, won the Cup and the Super Cup of the country. From 2017 to 2018, he headed the Ufa "Dynamo-Ural".
He has eight Italian league titles on his account with Modena and Sisley. Bagnoli has also led clubs in Qatar, Iran, Turkey and Tunisia.
