Marat Dzhankhuvatov, the owner of a gas station in Dagestan, where 13 people were killed in an explosion, has been placed under house arrest. This was reported to "Izvestia" on December 28 by the head of the joint press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of Dagestan Zarema Mamaeva.
She pointed out that the preventive measure will be valid for two months, until February 26.
On September 27, three explosions occurred at a gas station in Makhachkala , followed by a fire. Thirteen people died. The next day EMERCOM rescuers managed to extinguish the fire. Two cars and a truck were also damaged in the fire.
Eyewitnesses to the explosions told Izvestia that before the incident the situation at the gas station was normal, people did not notice anything suspicious.
Dzhankhuvatov was detained on September 28. The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation reported that investigative actions are being carried out within the framework of a criminal case under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Performance of work or provision of services that do not meet safety requirements") in connection with the incident that killed and injured people. The court in Dagestan arrested the owner of the gas station for two months.
Later, on October 31, the Dagestan prosecutor's office reported that it had conducted an inspection at the gas station that exploded and found various violations, such as fire and industrial safety and environmental legislation.
