The stern part of the tanker "Volgoneft-239", which crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather, was looped with booms. This was reported on December 28 by the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar region.
"Around the stern of the tanker, which was thrown aground in the area of [stanitsa] Taman, Morspassluzhba installed 250 meters of barriers," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the operational headquarters.
It also added that at the moment more than 380 square kilometers of water area has been surveyed.
Tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. As a result of the incident there was a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels. It was specified that one person died.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin created a working group to coordinate the work to eliminate the consequences of the accident with tankers in the Kerch Strait.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the situation with the elimination of the consequences of the fuel spill in the Black Sea is under the attention of the Russian President. He called the incident an ecological disaster and noted that additional resources would be needed to eliminate the consequences.
In addition, a regional emergency regime was introduced in Kuban due to the release of oil products. Then the Governor of Krasnodar region Veniamin Kondratiev said that, according to experts' forecasts, most of the fuel oil should have remained at the bottom of the Black Sea, but due to unfavorable weather conditions, fuel oil rises to the surface and ends up on the beach.
On the same day it was reported that 25 tons of oil-water slop was collected in the Black Sea and 27.9 thousand square meters were treated with sorbent.
