British actress Olivia Hussey, famous for her role as Juliet in the 1968 film adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet", died at the age of 74. The Hollywood Reporter (THR) reported on December 28.

"Olivia was a remarkable person whose warmth, wisdom and pure kindness touched the lives of all who knew her," the publication said on Hussey's official Instagram account (owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in Russia).

Hussey passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones, the publication said.

The actress was born in Argentina in 1951. She was only 15 years old when she and British actor Leonard Whiting played the main roles in the movie "Romeo and Juliet" directed by Franco Zeffirelli, which brought the actors worldwide fame.

The screen adaptation was nominated for an Oscar for best film. Hassi herself received the David di Donatello Award and the Golden Globe Award.
