Gaza's Kamal Adwan hospital shut down after IDF airstrike

Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip ceased to function after an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) airstrike. The World Health Organization (WHO) reported on December 27.
"This morning's raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital put this last major medical facility in northern Gaza out of service. Preliminary reports indicate that some key wards were severely burned and destroyed during the raid," the organization's press office informed on X (former Twitter).
It is known that 60 medical workers and 25 patients in critical condition, including those connected to ventilators (ventilators), remain in the hospital.
It is specified that patients in moderate to severe condition were forced to evacuate to the destroyed and non-functioning Indonesian Hospital.
"The systematic dismantling of the health care system in Gaza is a death sentence for tens of thousands of Palestinians in need of medical care. This horror must stop and health care must be protected," the WHO urged.
Earlier on December 26, five Palestinian journalists were killed in an Israeli strike on central Gaza. It is reported that in the early hours of Thursday morning, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked a vehicle belonging to the Palestinian TV channel Al-Quds near the gate of Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat Camp in the central Gaza Strip, killing five journalists.
On December 25, at least eight Palestinians were killed in the West Bank. It is specified that Israel Defense Forces soldiers bulldozed into the refugee camp in the Tulkarm area, destroying roads and important infrastructure.
Before that, on December 22, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked the building of a former school, which, according to the military, were militants of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas. At the same time, Reuters, citing medics in the Gaza Strip, reported that there were displaced families in the building. According to them, at least 24 Palestinians, including children, were killed.
On December 17, the Saudi TV channel Al Hadath reported that the Palestinian movement Hamas and the Israeli authorities by the end of December may reach an agreement on the release of hostages. At the same time, Reuters said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would head to Cairo to negotiate a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Al Jazeera TV channel reported on December 17 that since the beginning of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the death toll has reached 45,028 Palestinians, with 106,962 people wounded.
The situation in the Middle East escalated in the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected the territory of Israel to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
