Russian paratroopers seize AFU stronghold in Kursk region

In the border areas of Kursk Region, units of the Guards Airborne Assault Don Cossack Regiment of the Airborne Forces from Feodosia, supported by artillery fire, continued to improve their position along the front line and stormed a Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) stronghold located in a destroyed building in one of the settlements. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 28.

"When a task is assigned to a group, it familiarizes itself with the map. It is given the task to come to these coordinates. On these coordinates there is an enemy, he must be destroyed and take his hideout," said the commander of the parachute battalion with the call sign Baltik.

The assault group, having received the coordinates and having determined the order of combat operations, moved to the specified area. Having demoralized the AFU fighters with the help of artillery and suppressed firepower, the Russian military went to storm the building.

With the help of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the command was able to control the process of capturing the stronghold and coordinate the Russian fighters.

Some of the Ukrainian fighters laid down their arms and surrendered, those who resisted were eliminated.

"They bring us to a red line where we can't retreat."

At a meeting of the Defense Ministry board, Putin revealed the tactics of the West, summarized the results of special operations this year and set tasks for the next one

Earlier, on December 27, the Defense Ministry reported that the AFU lost more than 600 servicemen in the Kursk region over the day. It also added that during the fighting in the Kursk direction the AFU lost more than 44,570 soldiers.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
