Soldiers of the 5th Independent Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade have equipped a prayer room for military priests to hold services, confession and communion for believers. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 28.

"Fr. Sergius has been coming to our battalion for more than a year. The fighters like it. Heals souls, you could say so. Raises morale. Before each trip, Father Sergius gives us communion, blesses all our trips. Perhaps that's why the losses are minimal," said the battalion commander with the call sign Mazat.

Priests provide the fighters with the opportunity to receive the sacraments of the Church. Often, at the risk of their lives, priests not only serve prayers, but also give communion, confess and baptize soldiers who have found faith. For safety reasons, the clergy have approved special shortened prayers, so the service usually lasts no more than five minutes.

"Guys who want to take communion come. We gather in groups, one at a time. I confess, I give communion, I give talks. And of course, here is a prayer service for victory. The groups come in, get ready. They go on to the assault", - said the assistant to the commander for work with religious servicemen, Father Sergius.

Earlier, on November 17, it was reported that in Zaporizhzhya region, assistant commanders for work with believing servicemen of the group of troops "Dnipro" hold services and confess the servicemen before performing combat tasks.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
