In Turkey, a man found 12 gold coins hidden there by the previous owner in a kitchen cupboard, and then returned them to the owner. This was reported on December 27 in social network X by the authorities of the city of Nurdagi.

"Kadir Terlikli, a carpenter from Nurdaghi, purchased furniture and found 12 gold coins in it. The man immediately started searching for the owner of the find and returned the coins," the post said.

Mayor Nurdaghi presented Terlikli with a certificate of appreciation for his deed.

It is reported that the previous owner of the cabinet and gold coins was forced to sell off his furniture as his house was to be demolished due to severe damage from the February 2023 earthquake. The man hid his coins in one of the cabinets in the kitchen and then forgot about them.

Earlier, on April 30, it became known that in the United States, a patient with the last stage of cancer won in the lottery $1.3 billion. After paying taxes, the money won by the man will be divided in half with his girlfriend, who bought a lucky ticket for him.

The Oregon Lottery said it had to conduct a security check before announcing the identity of the man who claimed the winnings. Organizers initially said they would not release the winnings without further verification.

According to the Powerball lottery's website, the odds of winning the lottery are about 1 in 24.87, but the chance of hitting the jackpot is 1 in 292.2 million.
