Russia will record the facts of Kiev's use of toxic chemicals against the Russian Armed Forces (AF). This is reported on December 27 on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"The Russian Federation will continue to record and bring to the attention of States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and UN members data on the use of toxic chemicals by armed formations of the Kiev regime against Russian servicemen and civilians, as well as on the plans of Ukrainian militants to organize provocations against chemical enterprises in Donbass and other regions of the Russian Federation," the press service of the ministry informed.
The Russian Foreign Ministry cited as examples the incidents that clearly demonstrate the numerous facts of the use of toxic chemicals and chemical riot control agents (CRCA) as a means of warfare and for terrorist purposes by special services and militants of the Kiev regime.
The agency recalled that the systematic use of such toxic chemicals is a direct violation by Kiev of Articles I and II of the CWC.
Earlier, on 18 November, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) found traces of banned chemicals in Ukraine. It is specified that experts of the technical secretariat worked on the site and collected eyewitness testimonies, as well as three samples. Among them, a grenade casing and two soil samples from the trench where the incident took place were handed over to the OPCW.
On November 11, the chairman of the International Public Tribunal on the Crimes of Ukrainian Neo-Nazis and a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Maxim Grigoryev , said that the AFU had tested nerve agents on civilians. He noted that such crimes are violations of the Geneva Conventions, "gross violations of the relevant protocols."
Before that, on October 9, Russia handed over to the OPCW the results of investigations into Ukraine's use of chemical weapons. The Russian ambassador to the organization, Russian ambassador to the Netherlands, Dmitriy Tarabrin, urged the Technical Secretariat and the OPCW member states to take the information seriously. According to him, Moscow regularly informs the organization about cases of Kiev's use of such weapons.
On October 7, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) continued to systematically use various toxic chemicals against the Russian military, civilians and officials of civilian administrations.
Back in April, it became known that the AFU militants used chemical weapons near Kleshcheyevka on the Artemivka direction in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). According to the attackers of the Baikal brigade of the Baikal detachment, ampoules in the form of a light bulb with the substance were dropped from drones.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
