In Israel, a Palestinian immigrant stabbed to death an 83-year-old Russian woman

In the Israeli city of Herzliya, a Palestinian attacked an 83-year-old woman with a knife, police characterized the incident as a terrorist attack. This was reported by Reuters on Friday, December 27.

Medics gave the woman first aid and took her to the hospital, where she died from her wounds.

Emergency room doctor Kobi Avriel, who arrived at the scene, told the Associated Press (AP) that he found the woman on the sidewalk near the nursing home unconscious and stabbed.

Israeli police said the attacker, Ibrahim Shalhoub, a former security informant from the northern part of the occupied West Bank, was caught and arrested. Law enforcers characterized the woman's murder as an act of terrorism.

Earlier on October 15, one person was killed and four injured after a shooting on a highway in Israel. The shots rang out near the exit to the town of Yavneh.

On October 2, seven people were reported dead in a terrorist attack in Tel Aviv. A combined knife and gunfire attack occurred on Jerushalayim Avenue in Jaffa. Two terrorists entered a streetcar car stopped at the station and opened fire. The perpetrators had an M16 assault rifle, ammunition and a knife.

Prior to that, on Sept. 8, Israel closed its borders with Jordan after three Israeli security officers were killed at the border. A truck driver traveling from Jordan killed the three officers at a checkpoint. Security forces returned fire and the driver was eliminated.
